The Voices of the White Nights are the voices of Saint Petersburg — the cultural capital of Russia, and the city where the summer nights are almost as bright as the days. As representatives of this beloved city and its culture, we rejoice in introducing you to the Russian singing tradition. Mostly a capella (without accompaniment), this tradition has its roots in church ritual singing and folk song. Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Kalinnikov, and many other Russian composers dedicated a great part of their work to choral composition.
Some examples of a capella works performed by our ensemble you can find on this site under the link provided below. If you want to know more about a capella music, we'd be delighted to see you at one of our concerts or workshops!
